Keynote Speaker:
Daniel D. Mennenoh, NTP, 2017 ALTA President, President, H.B. Wilkinson Title Company, "ALTA Message" and "Cultural Buy In of Employees for Retention, Engagement, and Development"

Daniel D. Mennenoh began his career in the title insurance industry in January 1982 when he joined Galena, Ill.-based H. B. Wilkinson Title Company, a privately held title agency established in 1883 in Morrison, Ill. He was named president of the company in 1996 upon the retirement of his father, John Mennenoh.
In addition to being a member of the ALTA Board of Governors and the association's president-elect, Mennenoh serves on the Abstracters and Agents Section Research Committee, Planning Committee, Best Practices Executive Committee and Congressional Liaison Committee. He's also the Board Representative to the Membership and Organization Committee and is a member of the Title Action Network.
Mennenoh formerly served as director of the Illinois Land Title Association (ILTA) and served as its president from 1998 to 1999. He continues to participate on numerous committees for ILTA. In 2006, Mennenoh was elected to the Board of Directors for the Title Industry Assurance Company (TIAC). He currently serves as TIAC's president and Board chairman.

Beth Beech, Indiana State Underwriting Counsel, Associate Senior Underwriter Stewart Title Guaranty Co. "Docudrama: Deeds, Affidavits, and Notaries; Oh My!"

Beth Beech is currently employed by Stewart Title Guaranty Company as Indiana Underwriting Counsel, Associate Senior Underwriter. She provides underwriting guidance to all agents of Stewart Title licensed to conduct business in the state, as well as Stewart Title’s Direct Operations, and is responsible for overseeing the Company’s underwriting guidelines for the state. 
Beth is a licensed attorney in Indiana and Ohio, and holds an inactive license for Illinois; and a licensed title agent in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. She previously practiced law in Ohio; transferred to Indiana in 1992 to work with a Fort Wayne Bank’s Commercial Loan Department to assist in the resolution of its troubled loan portfolio, including the supervision of a $50 million auction of commercial loans.  In 1995 she accepted the position as President of the Bank’s northeast Indiana banking operation, which eventually merged into Wells Fargo Bank.

Beth returned to private law practice in 2001, and opened her title insurance agency in 2005 in Northeast Indiana which was licensed in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.  She joined Stewart Title Guaranty in April, 2016.

Elizabeth J. Wysong Berg, Northeast Region Underwriting Counsel, Agents National Title Ins. Elizabeth J. Wysong Berg is the Northeast Region Underwriting Counsel at Agents National Title Insurance Company.  Prior to underwriting, Elizabeth was in private practice handling title claims on behalf of numerous title insurance underwriters.  Elizabeth’s private practice also involved handling real estate transactions and litigation, property and casualty insurance defense, and estate work.  Elizabeth is a graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and is licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.  She is also an active member of the Indiana Land Title Association and Indiana State Bar Association.

Brenda B. Clem, eWarehouse Director, Street Resource Group "E-Transformation Panel"

Brenda B. Clem, CMB is the eWarehouse Director for Street Resource Group, Inc., and possesses extensive experience in residential mortgage lending and servicing, including professional service engagements concentrated in operational realignment, business process improvement and operational efficiency to Mortgage and Servicing Operations. Brenda has been in the mortgage industry for more than thirty years, where she has also been an industry advocate to provide education and awareness for eNote and eMortgage adoption. She has more than 30 years in management and residential mortgage operations with various Lenders including Fifth Third Bank, Provident Bank and North American Mortgage, with a core focus on secondary marketing, loan delivery, warehouse lending, post- closing and investor relations. Brenda’s areas of expertise include senior strategic leader and subject matter expert of the financial services industry on data quality for secondary marketing and servicing. Brenda earned the CMB (Certified Mortgage Banker) Designation from the MBA and currently serves as an instructor and frequent speaker for MBA and MISMO workgroups on data quality in mortgage operations, loan delivery and servicing. Ms. Clem co-chairs the eWarehouse Workgroup and participates on several workgroups within Mortgage Bankers Residential Technology, Document Custody, Loan Production and MISMO. Brenda has had her own consulting company for the past six years and has a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Stanley Czaja, Underwriting Counsel, WFG National Title Ins. Co. "Zombies & Title: What the Dear Departed Cannot Do"

WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has named Stanley Czaja, Esq. as Underwriting Counsel for the states of Illinois and Indiana in its Midwest Agency group. WFG National Title is the fastest growing national title insurance underwriting company and a full-service provider of real estate services.
Czaja will provide WFG agents in Illinois and Indiana with underwriting support, guidance, and educational resources. Before joining WFG, he spent 12 years in private practice.  There, his areas of focus included handling residential and commercial real estate transactions and related litigation, including short sale negotiations, loan modifications, and loan workouts. He graduated magna cum laude from DePaul University in 1999, with an undergraduate degree in business management.  He received his juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law in 2003.  Czaja has taught continuing legal education classes on the topic of short sale negotiations and is a frequent lecturer on the topic of loss mitigation workout solutions for homeowners.  He is also a licensed title agent in the State of Illinois.

Melanie Morgan Dunajeski is the DSV Partner at the helm of the firm’s Northwest Indiana office, where she concentrates her state-wide practice in employment law, insurance law including insurance coverage matters and coverage litigation, litigation, and business issues and disputes.
Melanie advises employers in best practices, policy and procedure, and navigating the complex landscape of local, state, and federal laws impacting the employment relationship. She represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and diverse local human rights commissions, as well as in State and Federal Court in litigated employment matters including discrimination, wrongful termination, non-compete agreements, and other disputes arising from the employment relationship.
Melanie also counsels and represents insurers in a variety of insurance coverage related roles including coverage opinions, tenders of defense and indemnity, declaratory judgments and extracontractual claims and litigation.
She has also been a civil litigator for more than 33 years, including product liability, premises liability, business litigation, and general civil litigation, including bench and jury trials.  Her general civil litigation practice includes commercial litigation in a variety of business and insurance settings.
She is also a frequent speaker for at business and professional organizations on current topics in employment law, insurance law and litigation. She holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale Hubble and was named  “Influential Woman in the Law” in 2013.

Dena Farling, Vice President and Underwriting Counsel, Fidelity National Title Group "House Flip or Flop?: Insuring a Land Contract Purchaser"

Dena Farling has been employed by the Fidelity family of companies since 1993.   She has held the positions of agency counsel, claims counsel, regional underwriter, commercial manager and direct operations manager for Chicago Title.     Dena is currently Vice President and Underwriting Counsel for the Fidelity National Title Group based in Indianapolis – providing underwriting support for Agents of Chicago Title, Fidelity and Commonwealth.    She was the 2013 President of Title Underwriters of Indiana, Inc. and is currently serving on the ILTA Board of Governors as the Chair of the Underwriter Section.  

Dena received her B.S. from Indiana University and her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana.    She currently lives in downtown Indianapolis in a 1927 house with her two dogs, Reggie and Rhys.   Her interests include animal rescue, gardening and home renovation.     

Esther Fernandes, Executive Director of Operations and Client Relations, Brady & Kososfky, PA  "E-Transformation Panel" and "Hands on and Observe an E-Closing"
Esther Fernandes is the Executive Director of Operations and Client Relations at Brady & Kososfky, PA.  She is a seasoned veteran in the National Title Industry, Real Estate, and Mortgage Default Industry with the ability to see the expressed and unexpressed needs of the client while developing workflows and products to efficiently meet those needs. Esther has led numerous projects within the industry building teams and developing the training manuals for multiple large servicers’ closing departments both in the states and off shore. These experiences have allowed her to marry Technology and its efficiencies with production and its needs. She believes technology does not build and design products, better yet is enhances the efficiencies and allows humans to do what they do best: communicate and provide customer service. Brady & Kosofsky are industry visionaries committed to assisting all parties in developing and implementing eMortgage closing operations.

Michelle Glonek, VP Human Resources, First American Title Insurance Co., "Game of Life - Leading a Multi-Generational Workforce"

As vice president of human resources at First American, Michelle Glonek plays an integral role in in supporting and fostering First American’s ‘people first’ culture. Her responsibilities include workforce management, succession planning, employee relations, compensation planning, employee recognition and rewards, performance management and acquisition integration.
Glonek is also instrumental in several major special project initiatives for the human resources team, which includes the company’s participation in the Fortune® magazine 100 Best Companies to Work For program and regional top workplaces programs.  She is also responsible for diversity and inclusion initiatives, bi-annual employee engagement surveys, as well as corporate social responsibility activities within specific business areas.  Prior to joining First American in 2015, Glonek served in senior human resources leadership roles in the automotive and health care sectors.
Glonek has over 20 years of human resources experience.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California Coast University as well as an Executive Education Certification from The University of Michigan.

Adam E. Gwaltney, Agent, Ritman & Associates,  Panelist, "Insurance Yahtzee: Why Role the Dice on Your Business Risks?"

Mr. Gwaltney was born, raised, and resides in Anderson, Indiana with his wife of 27 years, Tana. Adam is licensed in Property & Casualty insurance and Life & Health insurance. He has been licensed for 19 years in Indiana and currently holds active licenses in AL, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MO, OH, TN, and VA and actively services hundreds of clients in these states.
Mr. Gwaltney specializes in numerous types of Professional Liability Insurance to include Legal Professional Liability Insurance, Title Agent Errors & Omissions Insurance and Cyber Liability Insurance. Mr. Gwaltney has been a speaker for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF), the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, the Indiana Bar Association and has contributed to the web site: Mr. Gwaltney is an approved CE provider, conducts webinars and frequently speaks for the Indiana State Bar Association, American Land Title Association (ALTA), Indiana Land Title Association (ILTA), and the Michigan Land Title Association (MLTA). He has also been a contributor for The Title Report, a title insurance industry trade journal. Adam also speaks frequently for various trade groups on Cyber Liability and Crime Insurance.
Adam is proud to be a 33 year veteran of the Boy Scouts of America and he is an avid outdoorsman. He is a 2005 recipient of The District Award of Merit and has served his local Boy Scout District and Indiana Council in numerous leadership and training positions. Mr. Gwaltney is the proud parent of an Eagle Scout, his son Jordan, who is also a 2014 graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.
Mr. Gwaltney is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), The Indiana Land Title Association (ILTA), Anderson First Church of the Nazarene and The Boy Scouts of America. Adam is also the Founder and President of GwaltneyGear, a family owned and operated Indiana based international outdoor gear retailer that was founded in 2001.

Jonathan L. Handsborough, Title Director, Indiana Department of Insurance "IDOI Update"

Jonathan L. Handsborough is the Title Division Director at the Indiana Department of Insurance.  The purpose of the Indiana Department of Insurance is to protect Hoosiers as they purchase and use insurance products to keep their assets and families from loss or harm.  The IDOI provides assistance to consumers with certain claim situations and help in understanding how their policies work.  The Department’s primary obligation is to monitor the financial solvency of the insurance companies domiciled in Indiana so that the legal promises made in insurance policies are honored. 
The Title Division examines the business practices of residental and non-residental agents, agencies and underwriters who conduct business in the State of Indiana.  The Title Division also oversees all the licensing, administrative matters, consumer complaints, and enforcement matters regarding title insurance licenses in Indiana.  Prior to his current role, Jonathan served as the Non-Residential Auditor/Senior Examiner for three years with the Department.  Before joining the Department, Jonathan owned an Insurance Firm for ten years and worked as a Hospital Administrator in Austin, Texas.  Jonathan earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Regis University in Denver, Colorado,  and is the Chairman of the Indiana Inter-Agency Mortgage Lending and Fraud Prevention Task Force. 

Laura Hardy, AVP and Division Underwriting Counsel, Old Republic Title Ins. Co., "Tracking Railroads" and "Pasa/Paca"

Laura Hardy is Assistant Vice President and Division Underwriting Counsel for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company.  In this role, she assists agents in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Nebraska.  Laura provides day-to-day underwriting assistance and approvals, and aids in more complex projects from order to closing.  She assists corporate underwriting and the national commercial group with multi-site transactions when sites fall within her region.  Over the last five years, Laura has developed and presented numerous educational seminars for agents and land title associations in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Arkansas.  Laura also acts as Vice President and Counsel for Old Republic Title Company of St. Louis, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Old Republic National Title Insurance Company.  In this role, she conducts commercial closings and assists with underwriting decisions, compliance, escrow matters, construction disbursing matters, and company policies and training.  Laura currently serves on the board of directors for the Missouri Land Title Association.  She was selected as a Young Title Person of the Year by MLTA in 2014.  Laura lives in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband, Ryan, son, Mason, and daughter, Noelle.

Mark Ladd, VP of Regulatory & Industry Affairs, Simplifile "E-Transformation Panel"

Mark Ladd is the VP of Regulatory & Industry Affairs for Simplifile, LC, provider of a collaboration platform that connects lenders, settlement agents and counties.  In this role, Ladd monitors federal, state and local initiatives that could have an impact on Simplifile’s current business operations, as well as future business expansion and line extensions.
Prior to joining Simplifile, Ladd was the owner of Addison/One, LLC, a consulting firm focused on improving and automating land records recording and management systems.  In this capacity, Ladd served as the Technology Coordinator for the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) and was instrumental in the development of the PRIA eRecording XML standards.
Ladd served as the Register of Deeds in Racine County, WI from 1994 until 2004.  During his tenure he implemented the first electronic recording system in Wisconsin, which was the tenth such system in the nation.
Active in many national trade associations, Ladd serves on the Board of Directors for PRIA, where he currently holds the position of President.  He has previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Residential Governance Committee for the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO).
Ladd’s background as a Register of Deeds, his involvement in the national standard setting process and experience in the private sector provides comprehensive insight into the dynamic electronic mortgage collaboration arena.

Karen Murphy, Agent, Ritman & Associates, Panelist "Insurance Yahtzee: Why Role the Dice on Your Business Risks?"

Karen is a commercial and personal lines insurance agent for RITMAN and joined the company in
2012. She was a legal administrator for 15 years and has 30 years’ experience in the legal industry.
Karen served as President of the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators and was a member of its Board of Directors for several years. Currently, Karen is a member of Professional Insurance Agents Association. She is licensed in IN, IL, KY, MI and OH.
Karen was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison and attended the Hartford School of Insurance and the Pathfinder School of Insurance. She and her husband, Patrick, own a forensic engineering firm and have four children and two grandchildren. Karen enjoys travel, photography, target shooting and a variety of outdoor sports.

Nancy G. Pratt, VP of Partner Relations and Government Affairs, Pavaso, Moderator "E-Transformation Panel" and "Hands on and Observe an E-Closing"

Nancy G. Pratt is the Vice President of Partner Relations and Government Affairs for Pavaso.  She provides team leadership in attaining company goals, and manages the strategic relationships for the growth of the company.  She is responsible in maintaining the relationships at Federal and State level, understanding key regulatory issues and laws that pertain to the operations of Pavaso.   She is involved with Sales Support and strategy of the promotion and development of the Digital Mortgage Solutions throughout the Title agent network and lender segment of the industry.
Nancy has over 12 years of experience in the eMortgage/eClosing space, which played a key role in leading the go-to-market and implementation strategies for Pavaso's two CFPB pilots. 
Nancy has been in the mortgage/title industry for over 32 years and highlights of her career include industry milestones of performing the first complete eMortgage with lenders and conducting the first ever FHA and VA eClosings.   
Nancy has been invited to speak at various Industry Conventions as an eClosing/eMortgage subject expert.  She is a member of the ALTA Government Affairs, Public Relations, State Regulatory Action and Technology Committee and was just recently named as an ALTA Springboard facilitator.  She is the Co-chair of the MBA MISMO eMortgage Group and was elected to the MISMO Board of Governance Technology Committee for 2017.   She is also member of MBA’s Residential Technology Committee.  Nancy is also a member of PRIA, MBA, MISMO, ESRA, RESPRO, National eNotarization Board, and has served on the eMortgage FNMA Innovation Team.  
Nancy was named as a Leading Lady in the Mortgage Industry by The MReport in 2015.  In 2016, she was a recipient of the 2016 MBA Tech All Star Award and was named as an Elite Women in Mortgage by Mortgage Professional America and was most recently named one of Housing Wire’s Women of Influence.
Mary Slade, Indiana State Underwriting Counsel, First American Title Insurance Co. Easement Ahoy!: Insurance and Easements"

As the Indiana State Counsel for First American Title Insurance Company, Mary Slade provides
underwriting analysis and solutions for customers and title professionals to achieve their
objectives with Indiana commercial and residential transactions. With more than two decades
serving the Indiana real estate and title industry, Mary’s experience has included regional
counsel positions in claims and underwriting for three national title insurance carriers in Indiana,
15 other states, and the District of Columbia as well as an attorney in private practice in
creditor’s rights, bankruptcy, and real estate litigation and transactions. Ms. Slade was also a
former deputy prosecuting attorney for Marion County, Indiana. Ms. Slade has served three years
as the education chair for the Indiana Land Title Association. Her programs on title insurance
and real estate have been accredited for title insurance license or attorney license credit in
Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. She was a co-founder and
the executive production editor for the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review and is
the co-editor of the Indiana State Bar Association Probate, Property and Real Estate Newsletter.
Ms. Slade is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and currently serves as the 2017
Chair Elect for the Probate Property and Real Estate Section. She earned her undergraduate
degree from Butler University and her J.D. degree from the Indiana University School of Law.

Wayne M. Stanley, CIO, Bowe Digital, "You Want Me to Do What???  Part I:  Why Title Agents Should and Must Explain the Benefits of Title Insurance Directly to Consumers" and "You Want Me to Do What???  Part II:  Methods to Interact With the Consumer"

Wayne M. Stanley is the founder and chief inspiration officer for Bowe Digital in Indiana. Under Wayne’s direction, Bowe Digital offers innovative and outstanding brand power to organizations of all shapes and sizes through inspiration, education and experience. Previously, Wayne served as Director of Public Affairs for the American Land Association (ALTA) in Washington, D.C.  While at ALTA Wayne helped developed the Homebuyer Outreach Program (HOP), ALTA’s education and marketing arm to increase industry awareness. Wayne also increased the association’s social media presence by nearly 150% and grew its footprint with national and local media. Using his experience from five years as a staffer in the United States Senate, he also led the expansion of the Title Action Network’s advocacy arm to a record 14,000 members in all 50 states promoting the land title industry. As a culmination to many of these efforts, in 2016, Wayne was recognized by BizNow as one of Washington, D.C.'s Top Association Innovators.
