HR Attorney Advice: Learning About Business Owner’s Responsibilities as it relates to Labor and Employment law can be a daunting task.  ILTA’s relationship with Littler Mendelson, a national employment and labor law firm, allows ILTA to provide to its members a valuable resource to ask questions in the area of employment law.  Owners, managers, and human resource officers can ask or email questions on matters such as human resources, employment law, employee benefit issues, and employer liability to Littler Mendelson.  Unless a question requires substantive research by Littler Mendelson, members will receive answers to their questions at NO COST to the member.  Plus, another great benefit is that there is no limit to how often a member can call or submit questions.  If your question requires substantive attention, you will be advised of that, and you can choose to retain Littler or any other employment law counsel.  In the future there will be articles, FAQ’s, and possible workshops to further assist members in this area.  To take advantage of this valuable and cost-savings benefit simply click the tab below, which will allow you to email directly TNierman@littler.com.  Email is the better method to contact Littler Mendelson, but if you need to call them they can be reached at 317-287-3520 and ask for Todd Nierman . This benefit is geared towards the employer, not the employee.

Educational Seminars:  Our title industry seminars are second to none.  We offer a diversity of topics with a wide range of depth, and with the most regularity.  Our educational seminars not only offer continuing education for our experienced professionals, but also for newcomers.  Many seminars are approved by the Department of Insurance for Continuing Education Credit.  Some seminars are also approved for Continuing Legal Credit.

Pre-Licensing Course:  ILTA offers the only approved state mandated Pre-Licensing Course.  Members receive discounted pricing for attendees to take the mandated Pre-Licensing course prior o receiving a title insurance license.

ILTA Handbook:  ILTA publishes a very comprehensive and user friendly title reference book covering Indiana laws affecting real estate.   This handbook is updated each year to maintain its accuracy.

Title Topics:  Every quarter, the ILTA produces a newsletter for members covering the happenings in the land title industry in Indiana and throughout the country, as well as information on upcoming events and seminars.

Membership Directory:  Annually, the ILTA publishes a directory listing all members by county and a listing of key individuals in  the industry.  The directory also contains the ILTA Bylaws and a map of Indiana with a city-county look-up directory.

Website:  ILTA’s website contains member listings, links to many industry sites, information on upcoming educational seminars, and Department of Insurance licensing information and procedures.  Our website also contains membership applications, the ability to register and pay online for seminars, and purchase the ILTA handbook.  We strive in providing up to the minute information on legislation and current topics of interest in the land title industry.

Annual Convention:  ILTA holds an Annual Educational Convention to bring our members together to share information, hear highly accredited speakers from across the nation, inform attendees about happenings in the Indiana Land Title Association, American Land Title Association, and review recent State Legislation that affects our industry.

Full Time Lobbyist:  For several years, ILTA has employed a full-time lobbyist.  Currently, our lobbyist is Charles Hiltunen III, Third House  Advocacy.  Having a lobbyist of such high caliber has given the ILTA tremendous credibility in the Legislature.  We are now assured that even though we may not always prevail, our voice will be heard and respected.

Outreach Committee Liaisons: ILTA appoints qualified members to maintain contact with other professional organizations and governmental departments serving the real estate industry.
