ILTA Pathway at Ivy Tech: Title Industry Program

In 2017, the Indiana Land Title Association’s (ILTA) Accreditation Subcommittee and Ivy Tech Community College explored the development of an education program for future and current title industry professionals. Title insurance has been part of the fabric of the American real estate and financial industries from the home front to small business and big business ventures since the mid-1800’s. Existing classes with the Ivy Tech Community College’s Technical Certificate in Business Administration were identified to create the ILTA Pathway to advance opportunities as the title industry continues to evolve through its second century.

The ILTA Pathway classes provide a broad base of skill sets in the following areas of the title industry: accounting, business management, customer service, ethics, insurance, marketing, real estate, settlement service, and technology. ILTA has identified 13 classes that serve to complete the 31 credit hours for Ivy Tech’s Technical Certificate in Business Administration and the ILTA Pathway. These pathway classes also permit the selection of three out of five elective courses including an internship with a title company as one of the elective options.

What is ILTA?

A lot has changed in our industry, but our strong commitment to our members remains the same. Since its formation in 1907, the Indiana Land Title Association has worked to protect the land title industry in Indiana. Amid the changing regulations and the ups and downs of the market, ILTA has stood by its members to offer high-quality education, networking opportunities, and legislative advocacy. We stand for the highest principles of professionalism and consumer protection, advocating for the safe and efficient transfer of real property. A home is likely the largest investment any individual will make in his or her lifetime, and by ensuring accurate searches, promoting fair and professional closings, and supporting important insurance coverages, ILTA protects Indiana consumers' property rights.
