The City of Fort Wayne (“City”) has recently made changes to the Barrett Law website regarding assessments.
The City of Fort Wayne (“City”) has recently made changes to the Barrett Law website regarding assessments. Previously, only confirmed assessments were posted at the following website: http://barrett.cityoffortwayne.org/. With the new update, both pending and confirmed assessments will be provided. Pending assessments are estimated assessment amounts to be charged to properties before the assessments are levied by the City of Fort Wayne – Board of Public Works. The assessments become pending when the Board of Public Works authorizes the construction of a public improvement that will be financed with assessments. Confirmed assessments are for projects that have been substantially completed, final assessment charges have been calculated and final assessment rolls have been submitted and approved by the Board of Public Works.
The intent of this update in posting the pending estimated assessment costs for real estate properties being sold during ongoing 50/50 Barrett Law Cost Share projects is to provide transparency to sellers, buyers, title agencies and financial institutions. This update to the website should reduce the amount of potential undisclosed (pending) assessments.
